As a (Senior) Manager Service Design & Strategic Planning (m/f/d), you will be responsible for our company’s operating model (Operating Plan), making you a key player in our organization. Your goal is to develop a robust operational framework that ensures maximum reliability and punctuality of our services while minimizing resource utilization. This means optimizing the deployment of locomotives, train paths, trucks, as well as train and personnel scheduling. Through data-driven analysis and strategic initiatives, you will drive efficiency improvements and cost savings while maintaining high reliability. Job requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Analysis and optimization of existing operational processes with a focus on cost savings and efficiency improvements.

  • Identification of optimization potential in the areas of locomotives, train paths, trains, and personnel.

  • Development and implementation of measures to reduce resource consumption.

  • Improvement of operational planning and control to streamline processes.

  • Close collaboration with internal teams and external partners to implement efficiency strategies.

  • Monitoring and evaluation of implemented measures to ensure sustainable efficiency improvements.

  • Development of KPI-based control mechanisms for continuous optimization of operations.

  • Identification and implementation of new technologies and best practices to enhance efficiency in rail operations.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional analytical skills, quick combinatorial thinking, and the ability to quickly grasp complex relationships and draw the right conclusions.

  • Strong customer orientation, motivation, and ambition to develop the best possible solutions.

  • Several years of professional experience in the railway or transport industry, e.g., in terminal operations management, rail infrastructure, dispatching, or fleet planning.

  • A high level of initiative, decisiveness, and sense of responsibility.

  • Experience in the analysis and implementation of cost optimization measures.

  • Strong social skills to engage various stakeholders and successfully drive change processes.

  • Fluent German and English skills, both written and spoken.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
